Section 44: committal to hospital under s43
This section allows the magistrates to commit the person to the Crown Court (under s43) but at the same time direct that he be admitted to hospital until the Crown Court deal with the case (s44(1)).
The patient is subject to the Part 4 ‘Consent to Treatment’ provisions.
