Parole Board

Revision as of 22:45, 11 October 2007 by Jonathan (talk | contribs)

"The Parole Board is an independent body that protects the public by making risk assessments about prisoners to decide who may safely be released into the community and must remain in or be returned to custody." (quotation from Parole Board website)

See R (Brooke) v Parole Board [2007] EWHC 2036 (Admin) - The Parole Board lacks independence for the purposes of Article 5(4) ECHR because of the sponsorship relationship with the Ministry of Justice which is a party to its proceedings.
