  • Event:Court of Protection User Group: Property and affairs 'Town hall' meeting (online, 24 September 2025) — This will be held online at 2pm. "The purpose of these meetings is to afford court users an opportunity to ask questions of resident judges as to court procedures and processes, on a non-case specific basis. Please be aware that we cannot answer policy-related questions. ... You will not be able to speak in the meetings – participant microphones will be muted – but you will be able to submit supplementary questions via a ‘Q & A’ facility. The administrator of the webinar will triage the questions and the judges we will address as many of them as possible."   • Event:MHLA: Foundation course (London, 7 October 2025) — This course is aimed at new practitioners and those intending to attend the Panel course in the near future. Attendance at the Foundation course is strongly recommended in order to achieve a sound understanding of the basic principles of mental health law, practice and procedure and in order to achieve the most from the two-day Panel course, which is a pre-requisite for application to The Law Society’s mental health panel.   • Event:Court of Protection User Group: General meeting (online, 22 October 2025) — This meeting will be held at 2pm via Teams. Email Natalie Cheesewright (Natalie.Cheesewright@Justice.gov.uk) for further details or (by 4pm on 1 October 2025) with items to be included on the agenda.
  • Event:MHLA: Refresher and Re-accreditation course (online, 27 October 2025) — This course will be suitable for those seeking re-accreditation, by reviewing the legal and procedural developments of the last three years and providing a forum for discussing these along with the re-accreditation process. It will also be of interest to anyone wishing to further their knowledge of mental health law and practice. There will be a significant case study element to highlight areas of law and practice relevant to tribunal representation, including professional ethics, pre-hearing matters and tribunal procedure.   • Event:MHLA: Panel course (online, 3-4 November 2025) — The Mental Health Lawyers Association is an approved provider of the two-day course which must be attended by prospective members of the Law Society’s accreditation scheme (formerly called the ‘panel’).   • Event:PELT: Introduction to the MHA, Code and Tribunals (online, 12 November 2025) — "The basic course is for all those who need an understanding of the MHA and Code and how it works in practice. It is aimed at all those whose work involves working with those detained, or who may be detained, under the MHA." Speaker: Peter Edwards. Cost: £125 plus VAT.   • Event:PELT: Becoming an MHA Administrator - the Basics (online, 20 November 2025) — "The course is designed to equip new or less experienced MHAAs with the tools to do their job effectively.   • Event:PELT: Introduction to MCA and Deprivation of Liberty (online, 27 November 2025) — "Intensive introduction to all those who need a basic understanding of the MCA and DOLS. Identifying the ‘decision maker’ as the person responsible for the outcome of that particular decision is the key to lawful decision making on behalf of those who lack capacity."   • Event:PELT: Introduction to COP, including s21A appeals (online, 3 December 2025) — "The Court of Protection has a very wide ambit potential touching the lives of many vulnerable people.
