Campbell Law Solicitors, Newport Pagnell - Mental Health Tribunal caseworker Mental Health Tribunal caseworker sought

Campbell Law Solicitors is a well-established and well regarded niche firm located in pleasant offices in the busy market town of Newport Pagnell near Milton Keynes.

We specialise in mental health, mental capacity and community care law and specifically we advise, assist and represent clients for:

  • Mental Health Tribunals (and associated mental health law work);
  • Court of Protection matters (financial, welfare and health-related); and
  • NHS Continuing Healthcare appeals.

Our work is funded privately and via Legal Aid. We have contracts in mental health and community care with the LAA.

We are looking to recruit a caseworker with experience of Mental Health Tribunal work.

Ideally this person will already be an accredited panel member who can represent clients at Mental Health Tribunal hearings immediately.

We will also consider good applicants who are not yet accredited but who have relevant experience and a commitment to this area of work.

Applications can be from qualified or non-qualified persons. Experience, intelligence, personal qualities and a commitment to best representing detained patients is of more importance than a qualification as a lawyer.

Other relevant experience will also be taken into account but this post is specifically advertised to replace a departing accredited colleague who is leaving to undertake the bar training course.

Given the geographical reach of our work an essential requirement is a current valid (preferably clean) driving licence, access to a car for work purposes and a willingness to travel to the various hospitals and courts that we cover.

Applicants who wish to consider taking up a training contract with this firm are invited to apply. We have successfully taken on trainee solicitors in the past who have worked full-time with us whilst completing a part-time LPC.

The closing date for applications is 31st January 2016. [Now extended to 15 February 2016.]

Ideally the successful candidate will able to start work as close to 1st March 2016 as possible.

Salary will be dependant upon experience. 24 days annual holiday is given alongside bank holidays and paid leave between Christmas and new year.

Please apply to:

Jade Cassidy (Practice Manager), Campbell Law Solicitors, 73 High Street, Newport Pagnell, Bucks, MK16 8AB. Email: admin@campbell-law.co.uk

Applications can be submitted by post or email although email is preferred. Please quote reference MHLO.

ODonnells Solicitors, Preston - Court of Protection lawyer We are a small practice but we punch above our weight. We do this by aiming to be the best, not the biggest or covering the most categories of law. Our specialism is mental health and mental capacity law. To learn more about us, visit www.odonnells-solicitors.co.uk where you will be able to get a feel for who we are along with details of our notable cases.

We must stress that we are very busy and we expect high standards but if you have the vocation to specialise in Court of Protection work, have confidence in your ability and want to make your mark in a firm at the leading edge of developments, we would like to hear from you. If you have a following it helps but is not essential as we have ample leads. Most important is a business sense to exploit our excellent reputation. Salary will be discussed with you at interview. Although based in Preston there is significant scope for remote working. This is a key appointment for us with early partnership prospects for the right person.

ODonnells Solicitors, Preston - Mental health and mental capacity fee earner We specialise in mental health and mental capacity law covering the Court of Protection and Mental Health Tribunals and have been at the forefront in developing the law on deprivation of liberty in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Our reputation is excellent. Our client satisfaction is high.

The person

We are looking for a suitably experienced fee earner (solicitor/legal executive) who knows that hard work is needed to survive in business. Dedication to breaking the stigma of mental disorder and to protect the rights of the vulnerable is essential. Membership of the MH Panel is considered useful, but not essential.

Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills are required. The law is complex and we are extremely busy but the professional rewards are enormous if you share our vocation.

We have no lifts in our building, the stairs are relatively narrow and the nearest car park is 100 yards away. Considerable travel will be involved throughout the North of England to residences in the community, courts and hospitals (including secure units). It follows that a degree of mobility is needed but we do not discriminate in any way whatever. If you are the best person for our clients, we want to hear from you.

The job

The focus is on the experience of clients, not the status of the staff. We have a growing caseload of Court of Protection welfare work which will require the right attitude, aptitude and ability.

Salary

This is a position for a fee earner with existing experience but we will build on your skills. The pace of progress is up to you. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

Interviews

Will be at our office in Preston. Reasonable travelling expenses will be re-imbursed.

Application by Friday 14th November.

By email to office@odonnells-solicitors.co.uk, marked for the attention of Debbie Lawton. Please attach your CV and say where you would like to be professionally in 3 years' time. Please quote reference MHLO.
