Prospect Park Hospital, Reading - Mental Health Act Team Leader (closing date 7/11/19)

£37,750-43,772 per annum

Based at Prospect Park Hospital, Reading

Full time, band 7 team lead post.

This is a new and exciting post to give senior leadership and strategic support to our Mental Health Act office which works across the whole of Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable leader who may have a background in nursing, allied health care, social care or law to lead this small team (4 wte) and ensure that the Mental Health Act office is compliant with the law and serves the patients and staff appropriately.

You will provide strategic leadership for the Trust in all matters relating to the Mental Health Act, ensuring that the organisation is at the forefront of good practice and safeguarding the rights of patients.

Based in the Trust’s mental health hospital in Reading you will be responsible for the line management of the senior Mental Health Act administrator, but you will be able to develop this role and work alongside colleagues in the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding teams in developing a mental health law hub of excellent knowledge.

Excellent proved leadership skills, knowledge of mental health law, and experience in the support and training of staff is of paramount importance in this role. The Trust highly value this team and that is supported by the Executive team; you can expect to have regular contact with the Chair, Medical Director, Director of Nursing and other executives on a regular basis.

You will be expected to compile appropriate accurate and detailed reports and deliver these to executives and senior management, as well as supporting the day-to-day function of the office and team.

In addition to competitive and flexible working opportunities you will, as a valued member of our team, receive generous annual leave, access to a car salary sacrifice scheme (available to all permanent staff over the age of 21), support with childcare vouchers, free onsite parking, access to an onsite gym and, as a respected member of the NHS, discounts from high street retailers and restaurants.

We’d love to welcome you to our warm, friendly team, who want to help you to make your career reflect your ambitions.
