Hi, I need sone advice please if anyone can me. My partner has bipolar and she is sectioned 3 in hospital, we live in a civil partnership and have for three years. But she becomes very hostile with me when she is ill, telling everyone we are over and that she doesnt love me. Because of this the doctors amd everyone wont treat me as her nearest relative, even though the last time she relapsed and this happened they advised we do an 'action plan. They said if my partner wrote a letter stating they were not to take any notice of what she said when she was ill and signed it, that would help me when she was ill. But now they say they cant take any notive of this. But according to the MHA I should still be nearest relative.

Why wont they treat me as this because by law I am.

Rather than rely on general advice based on the information above, I think you would be better off having a detailed discussion with a solicitor. There is a list of solicitors on the Mental Health Lawyers Association website. Best wishes. Jonathan 10:42, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Jonathan, I pressed the link but seem to have a problem accessing it. My partner is now well and back in her own mind, and of course, very sorry and remorseful at what has happened. But I'm not going to drop the behaviour of the health authorities this time, and i'm still seeking answers to my questions.
